The renowned consulting firm McKinsey recently surveyed all Belgian players in the private banking sector. For this study both the specialized invest banks as well as the specialized departments of large banks were questioned. In Belgium, these institutions combined manage 240 billion euro, which is roughly similar to the Belgian saving accounts. Compared with the crisis of a few years ago, this represents an increase of 100 billion euro.

Sustainable investments have long since had to tackle its tree-hugging reputation, but in recent years the demand for sustainable investment products has taken flight.

Although gold is still one of the more popular investments, we’ve noticed a renewed interest in loose diamonds for investment in recent years.

Our world is full of extraordinary objects and it is hard to choose a favourite among them. Because our unique human nature – we are driven by our passions – we all have different preferences. Some people collect music that moves them, others surround themselves with objects of art. A special category is reserved for jewels and precious stones.

To invest in shares is not without risks. There are good alternatives that fluctuate much less in value: one can invest in diamond, art or wine. They not only yield a nice profit, but are also very enjoyable and give one some kind pleasure. An alternative investment does require a certain amount of expertise or the help of an expert. Because what makes art valuable or what makes a diamond suitable for investment?

Investments in shares –and even real estate- are well-established by now. There are, however, many different and alternative ways to invest your money. You can start investing in old-timers, ships, wine, art etc., but also in valuable resources like gold, silver and diamonds.
